Cristal hunting at the glacier of Orny, september 2008

version Française

On a gray morning we arrive at Champex Lac.

But soon we leave the clouds below us.

Mountain tips are swimming like island on the clouds.

A steep climb in front of us,

and we are beeing watched.

The clouds treaten to overtake us once in a while.

The glacier of Orny at 2800m elevation.

The group is spreading out.

Soon hammering sounds from the rock face.

And the first cristals are discovered.

Raphael shows us how it is done.

A small cluster of cristals.

The more difficult the place, the more likely you find cristals.

The cabane of Orny with its little lake below. Here we spend the night.

A little rest with Raymond Simecek (he counts 80 years), contemplating the glacier.

While we enjoy the sunset one of us is still hammering in the background wall.

Next morning a coudless sky is greeting us.

In a rock desert

you still find life.

The portal of the glacier of Orny, hidden under the rocks he carries down the mountain.

Didier and Raymond Simecek sharing their experience.
